As makeup junkies, we’re all guilty of splashing out on overpriced high-end products we don’t necessarily need, but desperately want because they’re pretty, or must be good for the price?
In recent years, we’ve pushed our makeup snobbery aside and embraced the fact that sometimes, high street products can be just as good, if not better, than high-end products, and for only a fraction of the price.
We’ve compiled a list of six amazing high street products that are affordable AND great quality.
The Ordinary Foundation - £5.70
Lightweight and ideal for creating that refreshed face, the Ordinary’s foundation was the most talked about launch of the year, before KKW and Fenty Beauty that is. Nevertheless this is a killer product, managing to combine super skincare, with a hearty pigment. The only problem with this, is there are a few in-between shades missing, particularly at the darker end of the scale.
We’ve been assured these are on their way, so hopefully it won’t be a long wait!
Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette - £9.99
There is serious hype around this product – even NikkieTutorials is a fan – and it’s easy to see why. This beautiful little palette contains four highlighters: one cream champagne shade, a peach powder, a lilac powder and a gorgeous pearl powder, all incredibly pigmented with an iridescent tint.
This palette is such great quality that it is hard to believe it is only £9.99!
NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick - £7.00
These great quality liquid lipsticks come in a variety of shades, ranging from nude brown and deep red, to bright blue; and provide a comfortable, matte finish.
Waterproof and long-lasting, these amazing lipsticks do the same job as many high-end brands but for a fraction of the price and are definitely worth trying out.
L.A Girl - Pro Conceal -£3.89
The L.A girl Pro Conceal is a cult classic. You can’t really get through a YouTube sesh without seeing it pop up, and for good reason. This super affordable tube of concealer is highly pigmented, long lasting and comes in an epic shade range. Many people will say that for the price it is amazing, but we just think it’s amazing. It is the perfect concealer for everyday wear, and the handy brush head, makes it easy to apply wherever you are.
As well as buying an array of shades, to contour, highlight and conceal with; we love the orange Colour corrector, for erasing our dark circles and making panda eyes a thing of the past.
Makeup Revolution Fortune Favours the Brave Palette - £9.99
Designed by British Beauty Blogger Jane Cunningham, this incredibly pigmented palette was created to be versatile and to suit all age ranges and skin tones. The palette comes with 30 shades that are a mixture of matte and shimmery shadows, which make it possible to create dark, dramatic smokey eyes or softer, more natural looks.
The shadows are extremely easy to blend and highly pigmented, making this palette a product worth investing in.
Sleek Face Form Contour Kit - £9.99
This perfectly compact kit comes complete with a contour powder, highlighter and blusher making it a travelling essential. The kit is available in four shades: Fair, Light, Medium and Dark (and FYI, the blusher in the ‘Medium’ kit is an exact dupe of Orgasm by NARS). All three powders in the kit are incredibly pigmented, with the contour shade making it super easy to define your cheekbones.
At only £9.99 this kit is definitely worth the purchase.
