Are Primark's Blender, Brush and SiliSponge Dupes up to the job?

Primark may have been a staple or guilty pleasure, of every British girl at one point in her life, and with the myriad of items for sale, it’s always a guarantee you’ll find what you were looking for. Recently, it seems that Primark have stepped up their makeup game and given their cosmetics range, PS, a total makeover.

With their new makeup tools, Primark spin on a few modern beauty icons; most notably: the Silisponge by Molly Cosmetics, the Beauty Blender, and the Oval Brushes by Artis. Do these Primark versions work as well as the originals? Let’s see!

1. Primark’s “Silicone Sponge”

Claiming to blend makeup perfectly, these silicone pads come in a pack of 2 for a seriously low price, so you can try the recent craze and see if it’s right for you without investing too heavily. The beauty of the product is that it saves excess foundation that would otherwise be soaked up by a sponge, and the reviews for these little pads are stellar! Despite their thick shape, that makes it hard to reach tight, delicate areas, they can blend effortlessly and smoothly. They’re worth a go, and very easy to keep clean.

Original price: £14

Primark Price: £2

Our verdict: Hot! Although it’s a novelty tool and not totally practical, this is a fun purchase, and won’t break the bank.

2. Primark’s “Blender Sponge”

As Primark’s own take on the classic Beauty Blender, there is a huge range of variations to choose from and they are stocked in all shapes and sizes. The most popular, though, is the pack of pink sponges, and the fact that it’s a 2-in-1 deal is always appreciated. Unfortunately, this seems to be a case of getting what you pay for, and many users find the sponge to be too firm and springy, and it has problems being soaked in water whereas the original product has none. It’s hard on the face, and likely to remove a lot of product while applying…

Original price: £16

Primark Price: £1.50

Our verdict: Not! While future Primark sponges may improve, this pink duo just doesn't work with you.

3. Primark’s “Pro Blending Brush”

Perhaps the best value for money of the list, these oval brushes are dupes for the signature Artis tools that can be extremely pricey. Densely packed with super soft bristles, these brushes are thick and gentle enough to blend out foundation without getting streaky or tugging at your skin, and they’re glamorous editions to your makeup kit! These seem to be a crowd favourite. For their price they work extremely well, and makeup application becomes faster, smoother, and just a little more fun. Lovers of the brush have been surprised at just how well it does the job.

Original price: from £57

Primark Price: from £3

Our verdict: Hot! Shockingly handy and very cute, these individually packaged brushes are a must-have!
