It can’t be denied that this decade has been the golden age of beauty. New trends in makeup and skincare, have topped our wish lists for years. In 2009, most of us knew nothing about sheet masks, 12 step routines, or the ensuing hype around CBD. It’s exciting to think about what the last decade has taught us and what the next has in store, so we took out our cosmetic crystal ball to hazard a few guesses.
Floating eyeliner
Floating Liner is the more fun and artistic version of the classic cat eye flick. The line is drawn along the crease and usually in a bold colour. There are many versions of this “invisible” eyeliner and given its many options it’s a favourite for those with hooded eyes as well. If you need Inspo on this look, @katiejanehughes is the place to go.
Blue Eye Makeup
According to Pantone, “Classic Blue” will be the colour of 2020. So expect to see strong pops of blue with eyeliners and shadows.
If you want a budget way to tap the trend, check out KIKO’s Super Colour Eyeliner in the shade Blue Majorelle, or E.L.F’s Glitter Shadow in Ocean Eyes
Skin Capsules
Skincare capsules and ampoules have long been a fixture with Korean brands and have debuted at Beauty Pie, Elemis and Estée Lauder. Their star is in the rise, as they rather handily contain the perfect amount of product for each application.
Elizabeth Arden’s Radiance Renewal Vitamin C Serum Ceramide Capsules are a great place to start, especially if you are interested in using Vitamin C, but don’t want to risk light or air, tampering with the potent formulas.
Glossy Lips
Lip gloss doesn’t seem to be going anyway, thanks to the continued innovation in formulas; and our penchant for ‘less is more’ dewy makeup.
For 2020 we expect to see high shine lips in every form: whether as tinted lip balms or punchy vinyls. Suddenly products like the Stila Shine Fever Lip Vinyl seem so right.
Solid Products
The ultimate environment and travel friendly product, solid beauty bars will be popular across all categories. Reducing plastic packaging and water wastage, there are a growing number of options to choose from. Check out the Lush Coconut Rice Cake Shampoo bar, for its amazing smell.
