Ok so this may sound stupid, but we only realised how incredible Milk Makeup’s solid beauty products were, until we went on a hand-luggage only flight to Copenhagen. The penny finally dropped that the best way to beat Airport baggage restrictions, is to go completely solid. There are a few products that will always catch you out (mascara we’re looking at you), but going solid leaves so much room for skincare, shower gels and Sephora/ Pharmacy hauls for the way home.
So here’s our guide to the complexion products to pack for your next vacay.
Concealers:
With fantastic coverage and soft matte finish, this is an easy blend-able concealer: great for spot concealing and so good that you’ll end up wearing it as your base.
Perfect if you’re after something natural and slippery. This is great for luminescent glowy days, when you want coverage but don’t want a give-away change in texture.
Marc Jacobs - Accomplice Concealer
This is kind of the best of both worlds, this creamy concealer gives great natural looking coverage - and comes in stick form, making it even easier to apply.
Foundation:
Bobbi Brown - Skin Foundation Stick
The ultimate for natural and flawless looking skin, we always get compliments when wearing this easy to use foundation. Just swipe and blend this creamy stick, for the perfect finish that will have everyone guessing.
Makeup Revolution - Fast Base Stick Foundation
If you’re on a budget this Stick is a must. Coming in at only £5 this foundation is easy to use, has fantastic - and a slightly more matte -coverage.
Primer:
Not everyone loves a primer, but if you do, Milk’s Blur Sticks are the perfect travel-friendly addition to your luggage. They come in matte and luminous finishes.
Setting Spray:
One thing you can’t get in Stick form sadly is setting spray.
The best for travelling is the e.l.f Cosmetics Makeup Mist & Set, and as as its affordable, you won’t be too sad to leave behind whatever you might have left. This great setting spray comes in a range of finishes depending on your mood, but we love the original for a natural but truly set finish.
If you’re committed to your Urban Decay, the All Nighter comes in a holiday friendly travel size.
Setting Powder:
The Hourglass travel-sized translucent powder is a great option if you like light powders, as is the Fenty Invisimatte Blotting Powder in Universal, if you want something pressed.
But as restrictions really don’t count for this, we’d recommend bringing the classic and (all skin tones friendly) Translucent setting powder from Laura Mercier - available in translucent or medium/dark; or the very handy Charlotte Tilbury Magic powder, which very cleverly has an open and close mechanism.
Blush:
There are so many great cream blushers so you can really go for whichever brand you prefer. For cream blushes we love to keep things natural and organic with products like the Noto multi benne tint, although there are so many good buys around.
Charlotte Tilbury’s Beach Stick, Elf Cosmetics’ Monochromatic Multi Stick and the new Colourpop Blush Stix are all options that could work hard for you, depending on the shade you select. Pick something with shimmer to double as a highlight, something Rougey for lips, brown for bronzing, the possibilities are endless.
The best thing about stick or solid makeup, it’s creamy giving you a more flawless, seamless and natural looking finish
