6 Beauty Products We’re Swapping Out For Fall

When summer shifts to fall, changes in the weather tax the skin and as the nights get darker earlier, it signals that it’s about time we start preparing for the transition into colder months.

Consider switching to a heavier-weight moisturiser to quench skin and forgo any dry patches. Look for nutrient-rich ingredients, and celebrate the beginning of autumn, by introducing deep berry-red hues into your beauty routine.

To help with the transition, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite products that, like extra-shot lattes and chunky knits, help us feel prepared and ready for fall.

Mario Badescu Rosewater Face Mist for Milk Sunshine Oil

 Milk Makeup sunshine oil

In the July and August heat never did we stray too far from home without having Mario Badescu’s Rosewater Spray on hand. But, with summer ending, we’ve been relying on Milk’s Sunshine Oil to help ease us into greyer, rainier days. This roller-ball face oil is an amazing way to give your skin an extra boost of shine before or even after going in with your makeup. Its tiny size means it’s also a great thing to throw in your purse and dab on when you’re feeling a little dry throughout the day. We recommend using it under the eyes and as a subtle, natural highlight.

Glossier Balm Dotcom for Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask and BioAqua Lip Sheet Mask

Laneige Lip Mask

Though we don’t often leave home without a Balm Dotcom in our bag, the turn of colder weather means we need a lip moisturiser that will pack a little more punch. Laneige's Lip Sleeping Mask does just that. Filled with vitamin C and antioxidants, this lip treatment helps get rid of dry and rough skin by the morning when you apply it before bed. With the included spatula, slap a relatively liberal amount on your lips and wipe it off in the morning. Also, it smells amazing.

The end of summer also signals that matte lipstick season can’t be that far behind. For full-on glam looks, we recommend doing a scrub and mask beforehand. This mask from Korean beauty brand BioAqua is one of the best and super affordable too.

The Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors + HA for ID.AZ Dermastic Moisturising Cream

ID.AZ Skincare Korean Moisturiser

Thought The Ordinary can do no wrong in our books and their Natural Moisturising Factors is a failsafe, lightweight option for the summer months when fall kicks in we like to transition to a deep rich cream like ID.AZ’s Dermastic Moisturizing Cream. Designed to protect the skin from the harsh elements, it is much thicker, intensely hydrating, and also smells great.

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré
for Cosrx Moisturising Honey Overnight Mask

Cosrx honey mask

As the second moisturiser on the list, you can probably tell that for us, the transition to fall is all about hydration. And for something next level on days where your skin is looking extra dry and in need of some TLC, you can swap out your moisturiser for a sleeping pack.

cosrx honey mask

Designed to be worn overnight as a mask, this Corsrx moisturizer has “skin enhancing nutrients” for parched skin as well as bee propolis which promises to get rid of “deep-seeded dirt and bacteria.”

Dior Vernis in Blop for Smith & Cult Dark Like Me

Dark Berry Burgundy Nail Polish - Smith & Cult

Into The Gloss called out Blop, the denim-blue colour from Dior’s Summer Collection the shade of the summer and though we have a lotta love for the 60s-inspired hue, the change in seasons inevitably calls for something different. Call us basic, but nothing signals fall like a deep red. This one from Smith & Cult is the perfect dark-berry shade, more luxe and we like to think a little less expected than the classic blue-red.

Kiehl's Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate Serum
 for Noto Deep Serum

Noto Botanics Deep Serum

During the summer months we love to use a vitamin C serum for an all-over glow, but when transitioning into fall, it’s best to look for products that will instead give hydration and radiance - as well as pre-winter protection. Noto’s Deep Serum does just that. Packed with nutrients, this serum promises to revitalise and moisturise the skin with marula and rosehip seed. The perfect balance of radiance and plumpness, it also provides the ideal canvas for makeup.
